Winnipeg, June 6, 2016—In cooperative partnership with the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (CFDC), Turnstone Press proudly launches Larry Verstraete’s â€˜Dinosaurs’ of the Deep: Discover Prehistoric Marine Life on Tuesday, June 28, at McNally Robinson.

Bruce the mosasaur is big right now. Really big. Not only does he have a Guinness World Record as the longest mosasaur on public display, he is also the official fossil for the province of Manitoba, and a 50 foot long replica of Bruce is being hauled from Alberta to Morden as a permanent outdoor display for the town. It’s no wonder he got signed to a book deal. And what a book it is!

‘Dinosaurs' of the Deep prominently features Bruce the mosasaur, a star of the CFDC, along with Suzy and many other prehistoric marine creatures found in the Western Interior Seaway. Dinosaurs are an endless source of fascination and â€˜Dinosaurs’ affords readers the chance to dig deeper, (pun intended), into the less famous, but equally wondrous underwater world of prehistoric marine creatures, many of which were discovered right here in Manitoba.

WHO:Larry Verstraete, author. Writer and educator Larry Verstraete is the award-winning author of 13 books of non-fiction, many of which focus on scientific or historical themes. An active promoter of literacy, Larry is a frequent visitor to schools and libraries where he shares his enthusiasm for science, history, and writing with students, teachers, and parents. Larry lives and writes in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

WHAT: â€˜Dinosaurs’ of the Deep: Discover Prehistoric Marine Life is accessible for 10 year olds and up. Illustrated in vivid detail by paleoartist Julius Csotonyi, he is described by Scientific American as a paleoart rock star. World renowned for his prehistoric illustrations, Julius’s work has appeared on prehistoric coins for the Royal Canadian Mint, the Royal Tyrrell Museum, and the Royal Ontario Museum.

Moderated by CBC Weekend Morning host, Terry MacLeod, the launch features a lively panel discussion between Larry Verstraete, Peter Cantelon, and Victoria Markstrom.

WHERE: â€˜Dinosaurs’ launches at McNally Robinson Booksellers Winnipeg.

WHEN: â€˜Dinosaurs’ launches on Tuesday, June 28, at 7 p.m. in the Atrium.
