In the Works: Poetry by Sally Ito

JUNE 21, 2022

Turnstone Press is pleased to announce the upcoming fall 2022 release of Sally Ito’s newest collection of poetry, Heart's Hydrography.

In her fourth book of poetry, Sally Ito traverses the complex channels and tributaries of a heart mapped by the ineffable pull of family and faith. In Ito's careful hands, this same heart becomes ocean and cathedral, a hallowed space in which poetic organ-song crystalizes into poems resonant with hope, love, doubt, and longing. Heart's Hydrography charts the vital ebb and flow between the personal and the divine.

Born in Taber, Alberta, Sally Ito is the author of three books of poetry, Frogs in the Rain Barrel, Season of Mercy, and Alert to Glory, the memoir The Emperor's Orphans, and translator of Are You an Echo?, a collection of poetry by Misuzu Kaneko. Ito is an instructor of creative writing in Winnipeg, where she lives with her husband and two children.

Established in 1976, Turnstone Press publishes some of the most exciting and innovative poetry, fiction, and nonfiction in Canada. In 1998, Turnstone Press launched its genre imprint, Ravenstone, publishing mysteries, thrillers, cli-fi, and speculative fiction.
