Nina Berkhout was born in Calgary, Alberta, where she spent many years dancing classical ballet and earned a degree from the University of Calgary. She has a BA from the University of Calgary and a MA from the University of Toronto. Berkhout currently lives in Winnipeg, where she works as a historical researcher.
